Interpreter
Qualifications:
Must have an excellent command of English and another language. They must have technical, health-related language training in medical terminology. They should know how to use the first person interpretation and proper positioning to support direct communication between patient and the provider. The interpreter must be trained in interpreter ethics. This body of guidelines protects both interpreters and patients. Interpreters must be able to gain their client’s trust.
Description:
Interprets and communicates medical terminology, legal paraphrasing, anatomical references and explanation of medical procedures. Assesses the understanding of those individuals receiving the information.
Responsible for discussing specifics of any verbal interpreting service interaction between the patient and the caregiver with authorized personnel only; Needs to utilize multi-lingual knowledge and English language to effectively communicate (verbally) with the patient, the patients family, SSC caregivers, and employees. You may have to escort the patient through surgery as well.
*We hire on a per case basis. Our Nurse Manager will keep a file of all qualified candidates with their contact information and languages spoken.*
